On the small island in the southern tip of the Bramfelder lake, a heron colony breeds in the spring. There are also kingfishers here. I have not seen anyone yet, but another walker has seen a specimen today.

From the west to the east bank, the Bramfelder See is 1.2 kilometers long, but only 400 meters wide and at its narrowest point from the north to the south bank it is only 100 meters. The maximum depth of the Bramfelder See is three meters and there are four islands in the lake that have been declared a nature reserve. With a bit of luck, you can see the odd duck or two on the banks and also gray herons that have been nesting there for several years.
