Hiking Highlight (Segment)
In the "hilly" Endmoränen landscape of Wellingsbüttler Alstertal you hardly notice that you are traveling in a big city. Below, the Alster splashing in its almost natural bed, a bit higher you walk through beautiful beech forest. It is especially beautiful in spring, when the forest floor is blooming, in autumn, when the foliage is colorful and in summer, when you can walk in the cool shade of trees - so always.
One of my absolute Alster favorite places lies at the end of the marked route. At the small valley cut the Alster divides and leaves a dead arm. The piece of land between them looks like a small island. The Alster bank is pushed up here and crossed by knotty root system. A nice piece of nature! Since not only I feel that, but you are rarely alone here.

The Alstertal is a paradise for hikers and cyclists and runs through the districts Fuhlsbüttel, Hummelsbüttel, Wellingsbüttel, Poppenbüttel, Lemsahl-Mellingstedt, Bergstedt and Wohldorf-Ohlstedt. The Alstertal is part of the Alsterwanderweg. This runs parallel to the river in Hamburg area. On the larger tributaries, the Mellingbek, the Saselbek and the Ammersbek, lead idyllic cycling and hiking trails in other parts of the city.
The Alstertal has the great advantage that it is easily accessible by underground and S-Bahn, for example, if you take the U1 to Ohlsdorf or Klein Borstel. Only a few steps away from the station, you dive into the beautiful world of the Alster. This is changing constantly. If you meet at the beginning of the path on fantastically located on the Alster houses and gardens, the bank later transformed into an alluvial landscape. The path is very varied, as the Alster must be crossed again and again during the hike.
