On the market square, surrounded by many beautiful half-timbered houses, is the market fountain, which was created in 1583 by the sculptor Michael Junker from red sandstone and is decorated with dancing putti.
The Schnatterloch tower at the back of the square forms a passage to the forest. A footpath that leads visitors directly to Mildenburg also starts here. The Schnatterloch itself is a hole in the tower from which a drainage channel leads to the marketplace.
The parish church of St. Jakobus is also located in the immediate vicinity of the market square.
