The St. James Church is the Catholic parish church of the city of Miltenberg. It is dedicated to the Apostle James the Elder. The parish belongs to the Deanery of Miltenberg in the Diocese of Würzburg.
The church in its current neoclassical form is a three-aisled gallery pseudo-basilica with three itapsis, slate hipped roof and plastered masonry with sparse cut stone divisions. At its core it is Gothic. A first church was built in the 13th century when Miltenberg received city rights. Towards the end of the 14th century a larger three-aisled building was erected. In 1782 this building was declared dilapidated and plans were drawn up for a new building. The conversion to today's neoclassical appearance took place in the 19th century: the choir flank towers with French domes and lanterns were built in 1829-31, the nave was rebuilt in 1830 and 1886, the choir in 1862. Purified in 1959. A general renovation with redesign of the liturgical room was carried out in 2003/2004. The floor level was raised again and the steps in the choir room changed. The altar was also positioned closer to the pews, for which purpose a new altar island was installed. The tabernacle has its own place on the side in a historic tabernacle.
    Unfortunately the church was closed.
