"The Schiller Theater was built from 1905 to 1906 to plans by the Munich theater architect Max Littmann for the Schiller Theater AG and the city of Charlottenburg.
From 1937 to 1938, the house was extensively rebuilt by Paul Baumgarten for the city of Berlin. ... From the reopening with Schiller's cabal and love 1938, the house was operated as Schiller Theater of the Reich capital Berlin. Intendant was under the pseudonym Heinrich Schmitz the actor Heinrich George. According to Berta Drews, his wife, the theater was struck by incendiary bombs in September 1943, with the stage roof plunging into the auditorium. In an air raid on 23 November of the same year, the building was finally destroyed.
Between 1950 and 1951, the theater was rebuilt to plans by Heinz Völker and Rolf Grosse for the city of Berlin. ... The glass wall of the main foyer (25 m × 5.20 m) was created by the painter Ludwig Peter Kowalski.
