Tower diver by Andreas Heimling 2011

The Palatinate artist's High Divers, over two meters tall, almost two-dimensional steel sculptures, do not show realistic replicas of women's bodies. The outlines are angular, the surfaces appear like a web of triangles. Despite the rigid lines, they appear graceful and athletic in their unusual movement, fixed in a snapshot of the jump. The comparatively complex high stand with balcony now has a new function as an overall installation, showing it not as a defense against starlings, but as a stepping stone "into a sea of vines and wine".
