On September 18, 1959 there was a serious accident. At 11:40 a.m., a Bundeswehr F-84 Thunderstreak fighter-bomber crashed into the administration building of the school camp. The machine belonged to JaboG 31 from Nörvenich. She had practiced attacks on anti-aircraft positions at the former Delmenhorst-Adelheide air base. The pilot died. Luckily, all nearby children from the Rechtenflether Strasse school were unharmed.
