This snail is a spiral-shaped structure and served the local winegrowers for a long time as a mountain lookout and was used as a thieves', bird and fire watch.
The core of the complex was probably built in the early 17th century. After severe decay in 2007 and 2008, the facility was restored by the “Drei Herren” winery.

Also unique in Germany is the crowning of the Hermannsberg, the historic “Stone Snail”, a garden architectural spiral-shaped monument from the 1st half of the 17th century, by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. Ä. Representation of the Babylonian Tower and at the same time the highest point of our hike. It probably once served as a thief, bird and fire station. Today we enjoy what is probably the most beautiful view of Dresden's Elbe valley from its top.
