The entrance is very atmospheric, via a sandstone staircase and through an archway.
Unfortunately, it is only open during the day in the summer. In February, we would find the door locked.

Hiking
Its history, however, dates back to the late Merovingian period, to the 7th/8th century. It was presumably founded as a chapel at the court of the Franconian founder of the town, Landswinda, and dedicated to the Franconian national saint, St. Martin.
It is a hall building with a late Gothic choir, nave, and tower.
The sundial dates from 1596, and the churchyard gate and sandstone staircase leading to the church
were added in the 18th century.
