The two largest surf caves in the Schwarzachklamm are the Karlshöhe and the Gustav-Adolf-Höhle. Due to the erosion power of the Schwarzach, the less hard rock layers such as clay layers and weak zones were washed out of the hard castle sandstone.

The Gustav-Adolf Cave gets its name from the fact that the Swedish king attended here after a battle victory (see Affalterbach) in the Thirty Years' War in 1632 a sermon by the Nuremberg priest Cornelius Mareius. Again and again various celebrations take place, which have left their mark clearly.

Very nice, large indoor cave. The Swedish King Gustav Adolf paid a visit to this cave during the Thirty Years' War. A plaque and an inscription remind of this.

The Gustav Adolf Cave lies below the Gsteinacher Felsenstraße directly on the Schwarzach. This wonderful place in the Schwarzach Gorge (Schwarzach Gorge) was already visited during the Thirty Years' War by the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, which can be seen from the commemorative plaque attached there.

Then he thought he was feeling victory before he found death in Lützen.
The cave is the highlight of the gorge.

Very nice, easy to walk way. Only with the bike and stroller you will have to wear a few times. But that too is feasible. In good weather here is a lot of business, so you should take each other consideration.

Nice place for a rest; A plaque commemorates a visit by the king to a service in this half-cave.
