The Herminghauspark has been a popular destination in the middle of Velbert for around 100 years. The first paths and squares were laid out in the "Mohnser Wäldchen" as early as 1887. However, it was not until a generous donation by the Velbert manufacturer Emil Herminghaus in 1912 that the park was expanded and became a popular destination for many generations of local citizens and citizens.
From 2004 to 2011, the park and the animal enclosure were extensively renovated and redesigned.
