Hiking Highlight
A round at the water is relaxing. However, the surrounding area also has a lot to offer.

The Abtskücher Stauteichs, which is filled by cattle brook, was extended at a job creation measure in the late 1920s. At the pond was once a grain mill, but in 1932 disappeared. You can walk or jog around the pond. The path does not even measure a kilometer.

Heiligenhauser outskirts recreation area. On Sundays, model ships swim here. Do not feed ducks!

Now in November we came because of the nutrias. According to rumors, they disappeared for a long time, probably because they were hunted to stop the further erosion of the embankments.
Now they're back, but because of the feeding by the walkers, they don't have much of a wild animal character, but eat up the potato slices that are offered to them.
Maybe not quite game-friendly, but extremely photogenic.

Here you can walk wonderfully around the Stauteich. The view of the pond and the rich fauna are worthwhile.

A small but great one
Pond. Here at the Abtser reservoir there are many different waterfowl. The ducks, swans and coots are not shy. In addition, the adjacent trees offer many nesting sites. Turtles sunbathe here too. A nice experience.

In the morning the tour started at the Abtsküche pond, where we were greeted with a lot of chattering from ducks and swans. Without hesitation, they took their place on the bank of the pond.

Many people drive to the pond below the sewage treatment plant to take a short walk around the pond. The edge of the pond is correspondingly blank. Not worth the actual goal. Interesting are the muskrats that have lived there for decades (I don't think they are cute animals) and the turtles sunning themselves on tree trunks that have fallen into the pond.
