The Asbachtal nature reserve is a nature reserve in the Kupferdreh district of Essen, on the border with Velbert.
The protected area includes the valleys of the Asbach, which gives it its name, and a narrow tributary whose source and mouth are also in the protected area. The Asbach also represents the western border of the protected area and the border to the neighboring town of Velbert. To the west, in the Velbert area, there is a beech forest, to the east the protected area merges into intensively used pastureland.
A few single-lane roads lead through the nature reserve, serving as service roads to farmsteads in the reserve. The hiking trail Ⓚ Kupferdreher Rundweg also runs through the area – on these roads. ..."
