The diving cemetery in Bautzen got its name from a chapel that was moved from the diving forest near Uhyst to the cemetery. The diving cemetery was consecrated in 1523 and received its first enclosure in 1630. Extensions took place between 1598 and 1899 and a morgue was also built in 1885. The baroque Grufthausstrasse from the 18th century and numerous grave monuments from the last four hundred years are remarkable.
