Best Hikes to Hamburg City Park

Tips

  • A great green oasis that invites you to linger 😊...If you feel like it, you can rent a rowing boat or canoe at the boat rental on the Liebesinsel and enjoy the nice weather on the water 🌞...
If someone has their own SUP, they will be rewarded with great fun here too 😉...
Also worth mentioning are the great open-air concerts in the city park...
👉 However, bringing blankets, umbrellas, food, sweets and drinks is no longer allowed. If the rucksack or bag is larger than a DIN A4 sheet of paper, the duty applies here...

  • Where game used to be hunted, there's a lot going on when the weather is good: young and old meet on the large city park meadow to play football, have a picnic, sunbathe and fly a kite. At the edge of the large meadow is a playground with a giant swing, slide and lots of equipment. A shallow pool of water is particularly pleasing to small water rats.
With more than 150 hectares, Hamburg's city park is a real "multicultural location". On beautiful weekends, more than 200,000 visitors often come here to take advantage of the wide range of leisure activities and do sports, have a barbecue, make music or just relax.
The recreation area in the district of Winterhude has remained Hamburg's green oasis and a public park, just as it was intended by its founders. In summer, the Stadtparksee becomes an open-air pool – separate from this, you can also go pedal and rowing boats. If that is too strenuous for you, you can also steer your model boat in the pond of the same name.
The planetarium in the former water tower is always worth a visit: In addition to a unique journey through the universe, it also regularly offers wonderful children's documentaries and chill evenings.
The woods, bushes and embankments are home to a large number of native and immigrant animal and plant species, and in summer the open-air stage invites you to interesting open-air concerts: from rock to folk, well-known artists from all over the world always like to come to "the park". There are of course also cafés and restaurants in and around the city park, which entice guests with small snacks and delicacies. The "Schumachers" beer garden, which is located directly at the Stadtparksee outdoor pool, is very popular for evening events. Other locations to relax are the beer garden "Landhaus Walter", "Café Sommerterrassen" and "Die Bucht".

  • In 1914, the park was opened according to the plans of Fritz Schumacher and Ferdinand Sperber, one of the first and to date the most important folk parks. Useful green for the ever-growing urban population was the goal. A spacious, extensive park with landscaped and strictly formal designed zones in harmonious balance.
