The Sandkaul near Ettringen in the Volcanic Eifel.🖤 This former volcanic rock mining area lies on the edge of the Hochstein volcano, north of Ettringen on the L 82, about 500 meters beyond the end of the village.🖤

The Sandkaul-Höhle 2 (also known as part of the Ettringer Höhlen) is located at the foot of an approximately 10-meter high quarry wall not far from the Hochstein volcano in the Vulkaneifel. The caves, created by humans through rock extraction, served as shelters during World War II and are today a popular hiking destination in Rhineland-Palatinate.
