Unfortunately, I have to correct something here: The Alexander Tower is not a water tower, but a city tower of the old city wall in Mainz from the 15th century. This tower was built on the foundations of a previous tower from Roman times (4th century). Because this is where the Roman city wall ran after the legion in Mainz was reduced/removed and the city wall was reduced and strengthened at the same time.

The Alexander Tower is located on the grounds of the Kupferberg sparkling wine cellar (Kupferbergterrassen) and is therefore not open to the public, but can be seen from the street.
