The former Stephanienbad was part of a public bath on the Alb but never served as a "bathhouse" itself. ka.stadtwiki.net/Stephanienbad
It was supposed to be a large bath. City history of Karlsruhe! The house was built according to plans by Friedrich Weinbrenner.

In 1812, Johann Peter Hebel spread the good reputation of the Stephanienbad at the beginning of the 19th century: "Many people stay outside who use the baths successfully for their health ... Every Sunday there is a large table outside, which I find great pleasure in. ... Court cavaliers and common people, whoever has the money in their pockets, men, women and children sit together. By the time everyone has finished their meal, the galleries and the dance hall are full."

Cycling

Although the Stephanienbad was conceived and realized as part of a public bath on the Alb, it never served as a bathing establishment. It was used as a dance hall, social building, restaurant and at times as a tenement house. Since 1957 the building is the Paul Gerhardt church of the Paul Gerhardt community.
