      Deidesheim - Philippsburg
      Date: 07/27/2021
      Day 9:
      Start: Deidesheim (D)
      Destination: Philippsburg (D)
      Kilometers driven: 98 KM
Our last day of touring took us from Deidesheim in the direction of Bockenheim (Weinstrasse), which is the official end of the German Wine Route Tour.
In between we passed Wachenheim (known for the sparkling wine cellar) and Bad Dürkheim (known for the salt works and the giant barrel).
From Bockenheim, our tour end, we drove back to Philippsburg. Here mostly in flat areas.
We took a leisurely lunch break in the Birkeneide zoo. Delicious food, friendly staff, we can recommend this good home-style cuisine.
In Speyer, in the Domhof brewery, we reviewed our tour in the beer garden before we set out for the last few kilometers in the direction of Philippsburg.
We really deserved the final cooling off in the pool after a day's stage of almost 100 kilometers.
Conclusion of our "Summer Tour 2021" after driving 724 total kilometers:
The weather was great and the route was great. We enjoyed the tour and would cycle it again in a heartbeat.

      Schweigen-Rechtenbach - Deidesheim
      Date: 07/26/2021
      Day 8:
      Start: Schweigen-Rechtenbach (D)
      Destination: Deidesheim (D), hotel
      Kilometers driven: 63 KM
Today's stage had everything that belongs to such a tour. Gradients that we have cursed, and then the descents that go with them with a wonderfully cool wind. The weather was great, the afternoon heat was definitely too hot for cycling in places.
But with regular breaks, we recovered and cooled off.
The tour took us today via Bad Bergzabern, where we had too much breakfast.
Then via Klingenmünster and Eschbach to Birkweiler, where we took a nice break at the Siener winery (weingutsiener.de). We recommend.
Then we went on via Edenkoben and Neustadt (Weinstrasse) to Deisesheim, where we moved into our overnight accommodation.
The cycle paths were all easily passable and well signposted.
It is really fun to cycle through the Palatinate.
Conclusion 8th day / stage: The weather is hard to beat. Very good bike paths. We really enjoy cycling through the Palatinate. Despite the gradients a wonderful tour. Definitely a very end to our multi-day Palatinate tour.Link Komoot: komoot.de/tour/433912433/zoom

      Rheinbischofsheim - Schweigen-Rechtenbach
      Date: 07/25/2021
      Day 7:
      Start: Rheinbischofsheim / Hotel (D)
Destination: Schweigen-Rechtenbach (D), Gerhard guest house
      Kilometers driven: 80.5 KM
Today's stage was again very varied.
After 7 days, which we drove along the Rhine to this day, we left the river today at Seltz / Alsace. From now on it is now through Alsace in the direction of Wissembourg. After Wissembourg we cycle through the German Wine Gate and from here follow the route of the German Wine Route.
Today our final spurt of the meanwhile 7-day bike tour begins.
The weather was great again. Perfect for cycling.
We often took short breaks and enjoyed the landscape.
The flood did not hinder us anymore and from now on it will no longer have any influence on the following tour.
We leave the Rhine plain and go to the Palatinate vineyards. The cycle paths were again all good passable and well signposted today. We had a lot of fun driving again today.
We can absolutely recommend the guest house Gerhard. The rooms are clean, the hostess is extremely friendly, nice and absolutely helpful. You can find details about the guest house in the film.
Conclusion 7th day / stage: The weather was absolute bike weather and simply wonderful. Very good bike paths. The landscape is very beautiful. The course of our multi-day tour remains optimal - a really nice tour up to here.

      Campsite Ettenheim - Rheinbischofsheim
      Date: 07/24/2021
      Day 6:
      Start: Ettenheim (D)
      Destination: Rheinbischofsheim (D), hotel
      Kilometers driven: 78 KM
Our tour today took us from the Ettenheim campsite to Strasbourg, then on via Kehl back to Germany.
The destination of the day was Rheinbischofsheim, where we stayed in the hotel / restaurant "Napoleon". Here we could pitch our tent in the room to let it dry.
You can't expect too much from the room and the food.
Driving along the Canal du Rhone au Rhin was lovely. We really enjoyed it. We would very much like to include another “Canal” tour in our future plans. Will be implemented soon.
Strasbourg is of course very beautiful too. But since it was the third visit in the last two years, we will only mention it briefly here.
The way back along the Rhine was also nice to drive, but no comparison to France.
We took several comfortable breaks and it was another wonderful day of touring.
The cycle paths are all easily passable and very well signposted. We continued to defy the flood and it could not thwart our plans.
Conclusion 6th day / stage: The weather was friendly to us again, very good cycling weather. Very good bike paths and a great landscape.
Definitely a very nice course of our multi-day river tour.
