    In the right hand the Grand Duke holds the document of 23 July 1783 to abolish serfdom in Baden. On the pedestal is the Grand Ducal coat of arms from 1807 to 1830. The four female figures on each corner of the pedestal represent Altbaden, the land on Main and Neckar, the Black Forest on the left and the landscape on Lake Constance on the right.
