At the same level as the collegiate church and almost directly opposite it, but also taking up the southern slope up to Untere Kirchgasse, the historic office building in the classicist architectural style deserves attention.
From the walled office courtyard, between the office building and the collegiate church, Steingasse leads down to Untere Kirchgasse, almost like a castle moat. Here, hidden below the church square behind a large round-arched gate and high walls, similar to a bailey, is the old reformed rectory and schoolhouse, later a Catholic rectory, one of the few buildings that escaped destruction in 1689.

Built in 1783/84 on the site of the residential tower of the Electorate of the Palatinate bailiff, the seat of the Electorate of the Palatinate and later of the Baden district office.
It is reminiscent of the more than 600-year-old official tradition of the Electorate of the Palatinate district office and the subsequent Baden district office of Bretten. The Electorate of the Palatinate district office was the administrative center and center of state power for the entire southern area of the Kufpfalz.

    Hiking

There are plenty of quaint alleys around the Amtshaus in Bretten. Bretten you MUST visit Peter & Paul (around June 29th) and immerse yourself in the Middle Ages.
