The Berngrundsee area consists of three seepage water bodies between Waldacker and Ober-Roden. About 40% of the site includes the fishing pond of Angelsportfreunde Ober-Roden, the remaining 60% including two shallow lakes were leased from the NABU Group Rödermark. The approximately 2.2 hectare site is protected from disturbance by a wall and partially by a fence. The fence has repeatedly been damaged in the past in order to gain access to the site, but our members were able to quickly repair it.

The surface of the two shallow waters is about 7 m below the surrounding farmland.
