Spodek – an entertainment and sports hall, located in Katowice. It was built under the name Provincial Sports and Entertainment Hall in Katowice, under which it is known in architectural literature and under which it operated until 1997.

Initially, the facility was to be located on the outskirts of the city, in the Provincial Park of Culture and Recreation. After the presentation of the project, by the decision of the then voivode, and through the intercession of Jerzy Ziętek, a new location was designated near the very center, on the site of a former metallurgical heap.

Construction works began in 1964, but were interrupted for 18 months due to suspected construction errors, which were not confirmed. In 1969, the first building of the complex put into use was the ice hall. The entire facility was completed in the spring of 1971 and officially opened on May 8, 1971.
