The "Frog" Fountain on Stawowa Street

In the mid-1970s, a fountain was installed on Stawowa Street near 3 Maja Street, with water flowing from the mouth of a 100-kilogram brass frog.

The frog was intended to symbolize the former pond located nearby (currently the site of an Empik store).

The fountain is tiny and inconspicuous, but it's a favorite meeting place for Katowice residents. Of course, meetings don't end here, they just begin, and the frog acts as a gathering point.
