It got its name from the street it is on. In 1902, the Weißenfelser Beautification Association commissioned this from Paul Juckoff from Schkopau. For the boy standing on the fountain and playing with the water, Juckoff used the same model as for the Weißenfels town boy, namely Ernst Hoffmann. The Weissenfels coat of arms is shown behind the boy. A year after the contract was awarded, the fountain was completed and unveiled. At that time the well was still surrounded by a small fence. This was later dismantled so that no children playing could injure themselves on it.
