The bird fountain on the small Münsterplatz is affectionately called "Möschebrunnen" by the people of Aachen because of its small sparrows, since sparrows are called "Mösche" in the Aachen dialect. Created by Bonifatius Stirnberg in 1978, it is one of the few drinking fountains in the center of Aachen.

The Mösche Fountain on Münsterplatz is a playful monument created in 1978 by the sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg. Its name comes from the Öcher Platt dialect: "Mösch" means sparrow, which is why the fountain is also popularly called the Sparrow Fountain. Several bronze sparrow figures sit on rods and a ball from which – at the push of a button – water flows into a bowl. The fountain is one of the few public drinking water fountains in Aachen's city center and is located on Münsterplatz, directly next to Aachen Cathedral.

On hot days, the Vogelbrunnen (popularly Möschebrunnen) is one of the few drinking fountains in the city center that provides cool refreshment. It was named after the small sparrows that decorate the fountain.
