The striking Festspielhaus, planned by the Graz architect Klaus Kada, forms the entrance to the cultural district of St. Pölten. Right next door is the Lower Austria Museum, the State Academy, the State Library and the Klangturm. Events are constantly taking place in the four different halls of the Festspielhaus. St. Pölten Festival Hall
The Festspielhaus St. Pölten is one of the most striking theater buildings of contemporary architecture in Austria and, in its 18 years of existence, has developed into a leading venue with one of the largest stages for dance and music in a dialogue between tradition and modernity. As a seasonal multi-disciplinary venue, the Festspielhaus St. Pölten presents dance productions from contemporary ballet to international creations, concerts from classical to jazz and world, youth formats and, since 2013, chamber music. The schedule includes events consisting of guest performances, co-productions and artist residencies.
Since its opening in 1997, the St. Pölten Festival Hall has been the permanent residence of the Tonkunstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, whose concert cycle represents one of the main program pillars in the Festspielhaus. The classical music program is supplemented by international orchestra concerts.
