Almost 900 years ago in 1126 mention was made of the picturesque village of Mollem, then written as 'Molinhem'. The name 'Mollem' grew out of 'Molenheim' in the sense of 'heim' or location near a mill. There used to be three water mills in Mollem.
The cozy village square has a rectangular shape where the village church seems to have been planned. The rectory, the former town hall and the associated municipal school are located around the village square. On the southern side of the square, the square is built on with several 19th-century farmsteads. The 'Village Kern Mollem' with all its surrounding buildings are protected as a historic village view.
Now you can enjoy the ups and downs of a small village community here in the shadow of St. Stephen.
