Memorial reminds passers-by of the drama that took place here one day after the 1918 Armistice.

On November 12, 1918, war ammunition exploded in Vrijlegem. Among the victims were several children and some German soldiers. To commemorate, a monument to the victims was erected, donated by the residents of Beneden-Vrijlegem and pastor De Munter.

The memorial monument consists of a high blue stone plinth topped by a blue stone cross. The donors and the possible name of the designer are encased in the pedestal.
