On June 4, 1898, he married the painter Alhed Maria Warberg (known as an artist under the name Alhed Larsen).
In 1901-02 the artist couple built a house on Møllebakken in Kerteminde. The house not only provided a picturesque backdrop for family life, but also became an artistic meeting place for a large number of painters, writers, and sculptors.
The house and the adjoining buildings are now a museum under the name Johannes Larsen Museum.

As the owner of a mill (Møllebakken in Kerteminde), his former residence can be visited largely unchanged, with its original furnishings.
The Johannes Larsen Museum offers a glimpse into the region's cultural era
and encourages visitors to experience the atmosphere in all its natural beauty.
In addition to the 20 exhibition rooms, which present works by over 50 painters,
you will be greeted by magnificently flowering and rare park trees that line the museum's outdoor grounds.

Hiking
The garden, residential building, summer house and the adjoining house can be visited, here you can get pretty close to the painter. Various "feather animals" run around freely through the garden. There is also a nice cafe.
