Johann Ludwig Uhland (* 26 April 1787 in Tübingen; † 13 November 1862 there) was a German poet, literary scholar, jurist, and politician.
No name is as present in Tübingen as Uhland's – which is not surprising, as he is the only native of Tübingen among the many poets whose names are associated with the city, and moreover, in his time (and for a long time afterwards) one of the most famous poets in Germany. His "Gedichte", first published in 1815, are among the most widely read books of the 19th century.
