"You can really enjoy the beauty of this area if you stay here on a day with good visibility, and then the view from the vantage point 'hull' extends far beyond the Rhine Valley, recognizing the striking appearance of the Astrophysical Institute in Wachtberg in the west as also the Godesburg and the silhouette of the federal city of Bonn with the Powt-Tower and the Langen Eugen in the north. On the left rise the summits of the Siebengebirge: Oelberg, Nonnenstromberg, Petersberg and Drachenfels The origin of the stone circle near the vantage point 'shell' The Stone Circle was archaeologically examined in 1987. It is believed to be the site of a Martian fire in the 19th century, but there is no evidence of prehistoric origin. " (Source: inscription)

Below this hut is the recommendable wine house Gut Sülz. Directly through the vineyard on a paved road to reach about 100HM with about 15 - 20% gradient and 600m away.

    Refuge on the sheath
The idea to build a refuge on the hull was made by the longtime secretary of the Heimatverein, Josef Schuchert. He recognized the exposed location on the hull with views from the south to far to Bonn.
Since the hut was to be built on urban ground, the land question was soon resolved.
The massive oak logs for the hut were supplied by the forestry department and the concrete foundations were cast at the house of Schuchert.
The master carpenter Karl Hartmann carpentered the hut near Schuchert in the yard after a construction drawing, which is now in the Brückenhofmuseum. In October 1975, the material was driven by Hans Zander on the shell. For the construction many hands were needed.
They agreed on the name "Rheinblick" and Josef Hillebrandt carved a wooden plaque.
The inauguration was celebrated on a grand scale, drinks and food were donated.
Here is an excerpt from the essay by Johannes Herzog: "Foundation and Career of the Heimatverein" in "Oberdollendorf and Römlinghoven - Ein Festbuch".
Published by Heimatverein Oberdollendorf and Römlinghoven e.V., 1986.
On October 25, 1975 on the cover in the presence of the mayor and several councilors of the city Königswinter, the chairman and managing director of the beautification association for the Siebengebirge, the chairman of the Association of local clubs of Oberdollendorf and several delegations of neighboring homeland associations and many hikers Refuge "Rheinblick" handed over their purpose.
The inspiration for the construction of this hut had given Josef Schuchert, had also even with the helpers Ernst Sauder, Willi Schuchert, Rudolf Schuchert and Josef Thiebes created by hand. The construction was financed by the VVS and numerous private donors.
In the speeches, the hut was described as a gem in the beautiful Siebengebirgslandschaft and as a jewel in the right place. The hut is not only visited by hikers, but also by numerous after-work groups. It remains to be hoped that it will serve nature lovers and hikers for a long time as a place of rest and festivities.
