A stone circle with a diameter of around 11 meters, consisting of 19 basalt stones, directly at the viewing point, testifies to the historical importance of the place. The age of the stone circle is unknown, speculations vary widely (between 2000 and 200 years). However, the positioning of the stones has been thoroughly researched: each of the 18 stones arranged in a circle shows the direction to an important geographical or historical place in the area. These include peaks of the Siebengebirge, historical places and important buildings such as the Bonn Minster. One of the stones shows the sunrise at the summer solstice. A nineteenth stone lies outside the circle.
Stone 3 for sunrise at the summer solstice
Stone 6 for the winter solstice
    Stone 7 on the Drachenfels
Stone 11 on the Michelsberg, 33 km away,
Stone 15 on the Bonn Minster, etc.

Great view of the Rhine Valley and the vineyards. Nice place for a rest.

        shelter on the shell
The long-standing secretary of the Heimatverein, Josef Schuchert, had the idea of building a refuge on the shell. He recognized the exposed location on the shell with a view from the south as far as Bonn.
Since the hut was to be erected on municipal land, the question of land was soon settled.
The massive oak trunks for the hut were supplied by the forestry office and the concrete foundations were poured at the Schuchert home.
Master carpenter Karl Hartmann built the hut near Schuchert im Hof according to a drawing that is now in the Brückenhof Museum. In October 1975 the material was driven onto the shell by Hans Zander. Lots of hands were needed to set it up.
They agreed on the name "Rheinblick" and Josef Hillebrandt carved a wooden panel.
The inauguration was celebrated in a big way, drinks and food were donated.

Here is an excerpt from the essay by Johannes Herzog: "Foundation and career of the home club" in "Oberdollendorf and Römlinghoven - A Festival Book".
Published by the Heimatverein Oberdollendorf and Römlinghoven e.V., 1986.
"On October 25, 1975, in the presence of the mayor and several council members of the city of Königswinter, the chairman and managing director of the beautification association for the Siebengebirge, the chairman of the association of local associations from Oberdollendorf and several delegations from the neighboring home associations and many hikers, the The "Rheinblick" shelter has been handed over to its intended purpose.
Josef Schuchert suggested the construction of this hut, and he also lent a hand himself with the helpers Ernst Sauder, Willi Schuchert, Rudolf Schuchert and Josef Thiebes. The construction was financed by the VVS and numerous private donors.
In the speeches, the hut was described as a gem in the beautiful Siebengebirge landscape and as a jewel in the right place. The hut is visited not only by hikers, but also by numerous after-work groups. It is to be hoped that for many years to come it will serve as a resting and festival place for nature and hiking enthusiasts".
