Tips

  • << Redoutenpark >>
"Of course, an appropriate bathing culture includes a spa park. The two parks in Bad Godesberg and separated from the Kurfürstenallee - Redoutenpark and Stadtpark - are today the green center of the former spa town.
The Elector of Cologne, Max Franz, acquired the Draitsch fountain, which he had installed in 1789. A year later, the construction of the redoubt, which was to serve as a ballroom, began. A magnificent avenue of plane trees connected the source with the redoubt, which still offers a noble setting for receptions, balls and concerts. The former classicist garden house now houses the "Redüttchen" restaurant.
Construction of the park began in 1820. Garden master Konrad Wilhelm Nelle (1813-1902) then created what is now the garden in the English garden style in 1856 for the new owner of the redoubt, Viktor Wendelstadt.
The landscape garden with valuable tree species from different countries and motifs of ruins extends on a slope on around six and a half hectares of modeled terrain. As with the electoral gardens in the center of Bonn, the formerly open valley landscape and the Siebengebirge panorama were also included in the concept for the Redoutenpark.
Today, the development has largely severed this relationship to the landscape. In 1920, the municipality of Bad Godesberg acquired the redoubt with the park at the back. The Redoutenpark merges into the Stadtpark, where visitors can visit the drinking pavilion of the Kurfürstenquelle."

  • Ancient exotic giant trees, water features, neo-antique buildings. A wonderful place where there is plenty of relaxation and lots to discover.
