St. Otto became “a building of transition between historicism and modernity. Kurz represents a moderate modernity between one-sided traditionalism and radical innovation.” On May 25, 1912, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, and the foundation stone was laid on August 4, 1912 by Archbishop Jakobus von Hauck. The construction companies Fuchs and Groß were able to complete the building by the end of 1913. Finally, on April 23, 1914, the bells were consecrated and installed.
