The Milchweg in Bamberg is a footpath that crosses a valley from Sternwartstraße with a staircase and ends in the street "Am Friedrichbrunnen". Since the planetary trail was opened in 2014, our planetary system has been shown along the Milky Way, making the route even more attractive and instructive.

Astronomical exploration path + unknown perspectivesDetails
"Our planetary system and even the Milky Way fit into the city of Bamberg. At least scaled down a trillion times. On the Planet Path, you cover 18 million kilometers in one step, on the Milky Way Path it is even around 50 billion kilometers. The true-to-scale reduction conveys that to visitors Incredible distances in space in a vivid way. This makes it clear how small our solar system actually is compared to the entire galaxy. Information boards about the respective planets of the solar system are set up here at the appropriate distance from each other and from the sun the journey further into the depths of the galaxy and leads past the wonders of the Milky Way, such as the brightest star Sirius, the Orion Nebula and the black hole in the center of the Milky Way. The Milky Way Trail is unique in southern Germany. "source

Lots of old steps, some of which are far away, which have to be walked carefully, as none of them are straight. It is very shady for the 200m of the Milky Way (once steeply down and then steeply up again) and so green and overgrown that it gives the impression of being in the jungle. A very unusual stairway!
