Here it rises in Eggerbach. Along its upper course over a distance of around 900 meters there are countless, sometimes impressive, tuff cascades.
The brook flows into the Regnitz at Neues.

The Eggerbach rises about 1 km north of Tiefenstürmig on the border between layers of the
Oxfordium (Malm alpha) and Callovium (Dogger zeta). In its upper reaches are due to precipitation of
Calcified tuff over a distance of around 900 meters countless, sometimes impressive tuff cascades were formed.
Their formation is based on biological, chemical and physical processes. On the one hand
CO2 is removed from the water by assimilation (mainly photosynthesis by mosses). on the other hand
This effect can also be caused by intensive (flowing) movement of the water or a change in the pH value (e.g.
      B. by mixing with other waters) caused or increased. The tuff cascades
reach heights of up to one meter. Below the mouth of a ditch (Fahrental) decrease
the formation of tufa noticeable, presumably due to mixing with water of a different chemistry. Further
the straightening due to agricultural use could be a (further) reason for this.
The upper reaches from the confluence with the Fahrental are protected as a natural monument.

You don't have to walk there, but if it's on the way anyway... .
