The part with the recreated layout of the old synagogue as a water surface is beautiful and important. The rest of the square looks empty. But somehow that fits.

The square was given its current name in 1996 after the synagogue that was destroyed in the November pogrom in 1938 and built in the southwest of today's square in 1869/1870.
