    Walking in Molenbeemden
The Molenbeek is a tributary of the Demer, on the border between Bilzen and Riemst. The Molenbeemden belong to the source area of the Demer. In addition, the nature reserve consists of two neighbouring steep slopes, at the height of Weert and Alden-Biesen.

The nature reserve is freely accessible on the paths all year round.

Very swampy paths with some very old boardwalks that could do with a makeover. Especially if a route [yellow] has been put here.

Molenbeemd or Molenbeemden is a nature reserve, located north of Membruggen, on the territory of the municipalities of Bilzen and Riemst. The area includes the banks of the Molenbeek, which is one of the source rivers of the Demer. It is located on the southern border of Vochtig-Haspengouw. Since 1966, the area has been managed by the nature association "Orchis". Because the area became overgrown, the municipality of Riemst decided in 1984 to reintroduce hayfield management, as it was previously applied, which made the area poorer in food. The marsh marigold and the slender primrose occur in the area. The area is a biotope for the rare narrow-mouthed whorl snail and the sedge whorl snail. The area is protected by European law as part of the Natura 2000 area 'Jekervallei en bovenloop van de Demervallei'.

Just the peace and quiet and the beautiful meadow surroundings.
