The Saint-Rémi basilica, is an important historical place, because it is dedicated to Saint-Rémi, known to have baptized Clovis first king of France. The latter accepted under pressure from his Burgundian wife, Princess Clotilde, to put herself under the protection of the cross. Remi the bishop of Reims in the fifth century thus became converter of the Franks to Catholicism, unknowingly inaugurating the beginning of the dynasty of the kings of France.
