The victorious powers of World War I created a new state structure in the Treaty of Versailles: the Saar area, which was subordinate to the League of Nations for 15 years. The border of the Saar area runs on the so-called. Grenzweg, which also forms the border between the two St. Wendel districts of Urweiler and Leitersweiler. Urweiler was then in the Saar area, while Leitersweiler already belonged to Germany. New boundary stones were set at all corner points of the border. They were mostly made of red sandstone and have a chiseled S on the Saar area side and a D on the Germany side, as well as the number of the stone in question. The direction of the boundary is shown on the head of the boundary stone. Source: Text information board

One of the numbered boundary stones can be found here, which marked the border between Saarland and Germany after the Saarland was separated from Germany in the Versailles Treaty after World War I and placed under the League of Nations for 15 years.
