The tower on the Lehener Bergle was built in 1894 as a lookout tower by the Freiburg citizen Franz Josef Hutter. Just one year later, the tower was sold to Hermann Herder, the Freiburg-based publisher and bookseller. This is where the sporadic name Herder-Türrmle comes from.

For many years, the tower served as a vantage point for walkers and hikers. During the First World War, an artillery unit was stationed at the Türmle in Lehen, after the Second World War the building was converted into an apartment. Today the tower is privately owned and not freely accessible. The association Bundschuh zu Lehen takes care of the historical gem.

Great viewing point, unfortunately closed. But there is supposed to be a room for weddings. So it's understandable that the tower is locked.
