Originally, this portal was the only entrance to the monastery, which was surrounded by a wall about a kilometer long. It was built at the end of the 12th century. The building material consists of brick and Rochlitz porphyry.

This is where the main portal of the former Cistercian monastery is located.
The perfect semi-arches form beautiful whisper arches. Tip: Choose a bow for two, stand at one end and play silent post by whispering something into the other's bow. The effect is really impressive.

The cloister portal on the west side of the cloister wall, built in the last quarter of the 12th century, is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. It served as the only entrance to the monastery and consists of an impressive stepped portal. The inner clear width of the gate is 4.90 meters and extends outwards to 10 meters with three steps. Originally there was a bridge over a moat leading to the gate. However, the walls of the portal have now disappeared 1.60 meters deep into the ground because the gateway was filled with rubble. Nevertheless, the monastery portal remains a fascinating testimony of bygone times and an impressive building.
