The history of the railway in Nossen goes back to the time of the private Leipzig-Dresdner Eisenbahn-Compagnie (LDE). In 1865, this company began building a second railway line between the two major cities in Saxony, which branched off from the main line opened in 1839 via Riesa in Großbothen and reached Nossen in October 1868 coming from Döbeln.
With the opening of the Nossen-Meißen section on December 22, 1868, the "small LDE" was completed and Nossen has had a "through station" ever since.
