During his lifetime, the last Baron of Ziegelsdorf Castle, Hans Georg Friedrich Werner von Seebach, had this magnificent mausoleum built in the middle of the forest. At the time, this impressive structure cost just 150,000 marks. The Baron died in 1895 and was buried here in a sarcophagus bearing a coat of arms. A white marble angel sits enthroned above him, holding his protective hands over the grave. In a day and age when such imposing buildings are hardly affordable, the mausoleum remains a testament to the wealth and sense of style of bygone days. Unfortunately, this ornate building is in serious danger of decay.

In the meantime there are signs "Private property - no entry" and "Photography prohibited". That is probably also the reason why nothing is signposted. It's a shame, actually. One can only hope that someone will take care of it in the future and that it will not expire. That would be a shame, because it really is a very impressive building and a place with a special charisma.
