The village church with its irregular field stone masonry, in which fragments of bricks are worked, was probably built in the second half of the 15th century. The church was destroyed in the 30 Years War. The restored church building was not consecrated again until 1707. The Ruhlsdorf church, which is picturesquely situated on a small hill in the middle of the Angerdorf, received its present-day appearance through the baroque renovation. The year 1707 in the weather vane still heralds the new construction of the west tower. In 1772 the west gallery was finally moved in and the remaining stalls were purchased. A small bell comes from the late Middle Ages and is therefore the oldest piece of equipment.

In the spring of 1945 the church was badly damaged by the effects of the war. A comprehensive renovation with modest means began around 1950. When a repair to the top of the tower became necessary due to storm damage in 2003, the damage was fully visible for the first time. The entire construction was so badly damaged that the joists above the ship and the entire roof structure had to be demolished and rebuilt. It was not until June 2009 that the topping-out ceremony was celebrated at the Ruhlsdorf church. However, it looks as if the construction work is still not completed as of 2021, especially since a construction site sign on the gate indicates construction activity.
