The air watch tower Rossum (8E1) is located on Fort Sint Andries in Heerewaarden. It is the second lowest of the surviving towers and is built of prefab concrete comb construction elements. On top of the tower is the viewing platform
The tower formed a triangle (air watch circle) with the air watch post in Oss and the air watch tower in Sprokkelbosch, which has since disappeared. The observers reported to the air watch center in Rotterdam.
The tower was used until 1964, the year in which the Air Force Corps in this part of the country was disbanded.

The air watchtower was refurbished in 2006 and fitted with modern steel stairs and a new storey floor. The tower is open as a watchtower for visitors and can be climbed daily.
