De Oude Watertoren is located in one of the most beautiful places in the city of Zaltbommel. A concept for all townspeople and surrounding villagers. Skilfully hidden in the green floodplains, encapsulated between the A2 motorway and the foothills of the defenses, stands this brick pimple, built in 1904. Until 1960, this water tower provided the city with clean drinking water. Now the monumental building is an oasis of peace. Few places in the Bommelerwaard offer such a beautiful view of the city, the Waal and the A2.

Hiking

The water tower was decommissioned in 1960. The water reservoir was demolished in the 1960s and the tower became a weekend residence in the 1980s. In 1996, the entire 'head' was removed and bricked up again, for which the 1996 water tower prize was obtained from the Dutch Water Tower Foundation. After 2000, the tower was adapted as a residence and taken into use as such.
