Searching for Utopia by Jan Fabre – Citadel of Namur

Surrealist image in Namur: a flying turtle in the clouds. A sculpture by Jan Fabre weighing more than six tons, mounted on the citadel using a huge crane. Several other works by the artist are already installed in the Walloon capital as part of the "Facing Time" exhibition which brings together the worlds of the two Belgian artists Félicien Rops and Jan Fabre.

A copy of the artwork 'Searching for Utopia' by Jan Fabre, the enormous turtle, has a new owner. That is the Fédération du Tourisme de la Province De Namur (FTPN). It is a 'brother' of the original copy that the city of Nieuwpoort purchased in 2003.

After seeing so many miniature statues in Hasselt, the turtle's imposing size was a pleasant surprise. The smooth polished surface with the city in the background makes for great photo opportunities.
