The church is also worth a visit but, if you can, check out the cemetery. An unusual tip, but it is also an unusual cemetery.

The Sint-Lambertus Church is the third church in Zelem. The first was located at the foot of the Sint-Jansberg on the banks of Demer and Zwart Water. The second church (Apollonia Chapel) dates from the 2nd half of the 17th century and stood on the site of the current kiosk. Saint Lambert of Maastricht (638-706) was bishop of Maastricht and later of Liège. He traveled through our region preaching and baptizing. On September 17, 704, he was murdered with a lance in Liège and immediately honored as a martyr. He is celebrated on the anniversary of his death. The first Sunday after his name festival, Zelem celebrates a fair.
