He is venerated in the Sorbian country. Many statues and wayside shrines depict Saint Sebastian. He lived in Italy between 260 and 300 years. According to legend, Diocletian had Sebastian tied to a tree. Numidian archers pierced the prisoner with their arrows. This survived the agony. Sebastian reappeared to the emperor. Diocletian had him whipped to death.
